DNA damage is recorded as gH2AX foci in the nucleus of human fibroblasts targeted with the microbeam. Each nucleus was hit by 3 helium ions - a single ion in each of 3 locations (triangle) with each helium ion delivering 100 mGy equivalent to 4 – 6 DNA double strand breaks.
